2 Ply & 3 Ply Ring Panels & Link Panels

An alternative to the Pleated style filter is the Ring or Link Panel filter.  They are distinguished by polyester media, in various configurations, heat sealed over a rebar metal frame.  They can be purchased in standard size panels or in links of standard size panels.  The efficiency of these products is directly related to the amount of glue or tackifier applied to the filter and the different layers of media.  Without the glue, a ring panel will have a similar efficiency to polyester disposables, less than 20%. However, the tackifier and added layers increases efficiency, dust holding capacity, and resistance.  The 2 ply version is normally used in low velocity applications and 3 ply in high velocity.  The recommended change our period is 3 months due to offloading.

Manufacturer variations include:

• Various denier (thickness or porosity) media in different layers.
• Amount of tackifier- Additional tackifier will increase efficiency, dust holding capacity, and life cycle.
• Location of tackifier- Tackifier in between media layers is preferred by maintenance staff.
• Graduated or distinct media layers.

Positives:

• Excellent performance in wet environments.  Dry off quickly with no cardboard frame to break down.
• Excellent sealing properties.  Additional media on filter edges works well with bent filter banks.
• Excellent damage resistance.  Can be bent around objects without degrading filter performance.

Negatives:

• Very high resistance to air flow.
• Initial efficiency degrades with use.
• Once tackifier is absorbed by dust, filters will off load captured particulate.
