RP Fedder & XLERATOR Hand Dryer HEPA Filters – The Latest

June 3, 2020

Rochester, N.Y.—New viral filtration efficiency testing conducted by preeminent independent air media and filter testing company, LMS Technologies, found the HEPA Filtration Systems manufactured by R.P. Fedder Industrial, LLC and used in XLERATOR® Hand Dryers remove 99.999 percent of viruses from the airstream. R.P. Fedder custom-manufactured the HEPA filters for Excel Dryer, Inc. They are available as an option in the company’s wall mounted XLERATOR® units and standard in XLERATORsync® Hand Dryers.

“We have 60 years’ experience designing and manufacturing the right filtration solutions to improve industrial and medical products and, in particular, products that need to meet HEPA filtration requirements,” explains Chris Fox, president of R.P. Fedder. “We were pleased to hear that third-party testing confirmed the filter we manufacture for Excel can provide their customers with added peace of mind in these stressful times.”

This latest test challenged XLERATOR’s HEPA Filtration Systems with approximately 380 million viruses ranging in size between 16.5 and 604.3 nanometers. In the end, the HEPA Filtration System removed 99.999 percent of viruses.

The Indoor Environment Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, operated by the Department of Energy, has noted that particle filtration systems may decrease the incidence of communicable respiratory infections by removing the small, airborne particles that contain viruses or bacteria expelled through coughing, sneezing or speaking. The inclusion of HEPA filtration, therefore, was especially important to Excel Dryer in light of the coronavirus pandemic, given the understanding of how germs are transferred and how HEPA could help to stop their spread.

“When looking to source our filter, we turned to our long-time partner, R.P. Fedder,“ said William Gagnon, vice president of sales and marketing at Excel Dryer. “They meet our needs and most importantly the needs of our customers when it comes to hygiene which is critical now, more than ever.”

R.P. Fedder designs and manufactures custom filters for thousands of engineered products used in industrial and medical applications. The company also warehouses and distributes a wide range of standardized air filters, liquid filters and commercial filtration equipment.  More information about R.P.
